Post your complaints about traffic signals that are not triggered by cyclists here. Only the ones that are triggered by the metal loops in the ground, not the cameras, can be adjusted. Some already on the list to be changed include:
Chateau and Airport should already be changed
but I don’t think Queensbury/Airport is entirely
The city has a draft of a bicycle parking ordinance. This ordinance will require new businesses and businesses that expand parking lots to include bicycle parking. Click to review it and the BASC meeting on it and leave any comments or suggestions. Suggestions for city locations to receive bicycle racks can also be written here.

Meeting called to order by Peter Hannah at 5:20 PM.
Minutes
January minutes approved as amended. M/S/P.
The committee accepted the resignation of Chris Joy.
Cars Grant
• Rex Reynolds stated that the city received that day the approval for the work plan for the CARS grant. However, it is currently unfunded.
• ALDOT has sent the plan to the Feds, who will piggyback off of our idea.
• Mayor Battle to speak with Joe McInnis, ALDOT director, on 2/11/10, regarding this issue and Dug Hill.
Mayor’s Bike Ride
• Mike Holderer and Clint Patterson have volunteered to be co-chairmen of the Mayor’s Ride.
• James Moore has contacted Channel 31. They will do a live radio broadcast from the Mayor’s Ride.
• Funding – Sponsorships can be accepted. No account set up but can accept donations to the City of Huntsville. Contact Rex Reynolds to set up account approval by the City Council.
• Parade permit has been submitted for May 15th. Route is similar to last year, if any changes meeting should be set up with Sgt. Shahan.
• Scott Erwin – Safety City will set up a booth.
• Spring City Cycling Club will man a booth and provide educational material.
• Vehicle Counters could be used as part of the ride to check if they can detect bicycles.
• Tour de Cure (Diabetes Fundraiser) is also on May 15, however it was decided not to change the date of the Mayor’s Ride.
• Mayor’s PSA will be set up and play at the event. It will be modeled word for word on the Baton Rouge PSA, content is already approved.
Bike Parking Ordinance
• Sharon Bayler circulated a summary of the bike parking ordinance meeting.
Police Reports
• Capt. Rodney Baker noted no reported accidents.
• Clint Patterson asked about ticketing cyclists – is this discrimination? Captain Baker noted that they write 20K tickets a year – many are contested and everyone has the right to contest in court.
• Sharon Bayler to remind SCCC members that tickets are being written for traffic infractions.
Bike Pike
• Jamie Miernick was not present due to business travel.
• Rex Reynolds to re-check possibility of lowering the speed limit on Technology Drive.
SORBA Report
• SORBA will host a major points race on May 2nd.
• SORBA is working with the State Park to raise money for trail maintenance on McKay Hollow Trail and Rocky Trail.
